Cheap Beauty Trick

You don't need a ton of new products to look your hottest. Follow these tips and get extra mileage out of your make-up.

Turn old into new. Instead of buying new lipsticks, layer your existing ones to create new options. Combine brown and pink to make a sultry rose, - red and purple for plum, and coral and red for fuchsia.

Make your red lipstick racier. Apply pressed powder in between coats to intensify your everyday red lipstick. The powder pulls out the oil from the lipstick, so you're left with a deep, matte stain, which is exactly the kind of effect you want right now.

Outline your pucker with a brow pencil. To prevent your bold lip colour from creeping past the corners, rim your mouth with a flesh-coloured brow pencil - it'll prevent any smudging.

Pat foundation over your lips. The nude, mod lip is the balance to this season's rich colours. You don't even need any lipstick to pull it off. Just dip a make-up sponge in foundation, press it to your lips, and let it dry for a few seconds. Finish it off with a clear lip gloss to add some shine, and your good to go.

Plump your lips. Sparkly eyeshadow dabbed in the center of your lips gives the effect of fullness. The shimmer draws light, so your lips seem to bow out naturally

Conceal dark circles. Use taupe eveshadow under your lower lashes to offset any blueish tones, it's an insider trick if you're running low on concealer.

Define your brows. Use mascara to accentuate your shape and conceal any patchy gaps.

Get glowy. Mix a pinch of metallic shadow into face cream to warm your complexion.

Trade blush for bronzer. To get chiseled cheekbones, sweep bronzer (instead of powder blush) onto cheeks. "This creates shadows and depth so your cheekbones stand out more," notes Shane.

Rub face primer on your body. Skin- revealing dresses are on-trend, so your legs and arms need to shine. The pros smooth on regular make-up primer. Primers contain light diffusers that even out and enhance your skin tone. So it's great to apply it anywhere you want to draw extra attention.

Swirl cherry lip gloss on your cheeks. Use bright red gloss or balm on your apples to enhance your natural glow. You can layer on more or less to get the exact rosiness that you want.

"Paint" on your foundation. Models looked especially airbrushed on the runways. To get the look: use a make-up brush to put on a liquid foundation. The bristles evenly distribute the product, so you get this soft veil of coverage. When going over tricky areas (like under the eyes or around the nose), squeeze the tip to flatten the edge to smooth out lines. Every few days, remember to wash your brush with shampoo to remove build-up.

Make Your Bedroom Brighter

You can't help but feel happy when you wake up in a room that's light, colourful and airy. And according to our design pros, giving your space that sunny, upbeat quality requires just a few decorating tricks.

Give Your Bed I Punches Of Colour

Bold pillows and throws are vital. Add just a few in the same shade, and place them against a white comforter. They'll spring off the solid backdrop.

Faux Glow

Switch to full-spectrum lightbulbs. They're specially designed to make lighting look natural. Screw them in and your private area becomes sunshiny.

Buy Sheer Shades

Heavy drapes can make your room feel, well, heavy. Instead, try curtains made of a gauzy fabric. When your window is open, they'll flutter, adding a breezy vibe to your pad.

Don’t Overdo The Walls

Too many pictures can be overwhelming. Another option: pick up small blank canvases and paint them different tinges - either a solid shade or add splatters.

Ditch the Rug

In the winter, a plush rug makes your bedroom feel cozy. But come spring, roll it up and stick it in a cupboard. Bare floors give the illusion of more open space.

Nix Visual Noise

It's important to declutter. Keep things that are personal and pretty by your bed - flowers, books, framed photos - and stash the stuff that tends to pile up.

Stress-Proof Your Body

When you're bugging out, your body holds onto stress in one of five key areas. Pinpoint your personal problem zone and learn how to keep nasty tension at bay.

Where You Feel it: Your Head

What it Reveals: You're Stressed.
Any sort of mental freak-out — you find yourself with one of those scary-long to- do lists, or you went on a shopping binge that left you with a monster credit- card hangover — can prompt you to start taking short breaths or clenching your jaw, both of which cause hardcore tension headaches. You may become light-sensitive and develop a dull and thudding ache behind your eyes.

Quick fix: Coffee.
Scientists say that caffeine causes blood vessels in your head to contract, which helps reduce your whopping pounder. Just limit it to one cup! And exercise works, too. Doing 30 to 45 minutes of cardio (hop on the elliptical, treadmill, bike, whatever) releases endorphins, which are brain chemicals that help curb physical pain. You're busy, but make the time, it'll be worth it.

Where You Feel it: Neck & Shoulders

What it Reveals: You're a worker bee.
When you have tons to do, you very likely hunch your shoulders over your desk or at your computer in order to concentrate and fully focus, staying in that position for hours on end. But while you may think that position helps you stay focused and get ahead at work, it actually tightens the muscles in this area, which causes them to knot up. Eventually, your neck could seize.

Quick fix: A slow massage is the Best cure.
This easy trick will help instantly: stand up straight with your arms at your side, and slowly lift and roll your shoulders in a circular motion. Do this 10 times in a row; it increases blood flow to your neck and shoulder muscles, which loosens the knots. If you have the time, book in for a professional massage at a spa.

Where You Feel it: Your Hands

What it Reveals: You're restless.
Maybe you're picking at your cuticles. Perhaps you're chomping at your nails, even though you clearly know better. You could be drumming your fingers nervously on your desktop, weakening your nails and leading to chips — both in your nails and the polish you're rocking. Whichever hand- evil you're engaging in, all these niggly little movements show you're fidgety and anxious.

Quick fix: A chilled- out mani (both the do-it- yourself and the salon kind work).
Simply paying attention to your hands is usually enough to help soothe them. Plus, manis may help kill your bad hand habits, After all, who want to pick and gnaw at freshly polished fingernails? Go on; treat your hands to some TLC.

Where You Feel it: Your Tummy

What it Reveals: You're a huge bucket of nerves right now.
Fretting about something big in your life, like an important presentation you have to give at work, causes your digestive system to speed up and operate way faster than normal. You've lost your appetite and when you do eat, you can feel a bit vomity and gross. The result? You feel crampy and gassy.

Quick fix: Eating cheese, whole grains and chicken.
But you don't have to whip up a whole wrap every time your stomach hurts — any one of these foods will work alone. They all have tryptophan, an amino acid that helps your brain produce serotonin, a feel- good chemical that can reduce anxiety. Our tip: keep some cheese at arm's length!

Where You Feel it: Your Feet

What it Reveals: You're overly tired.
Say you had a crazy-busy day. You had some major deadlines, tons of meetings, and a business lunch. You likely ran from one end of town to the other, hailed a cab and took the stairs — in crazily high heels. By 6pm, it feels like your feet are literally dragging, right? That's because experts say that you feel much of the weight of your waking hours in your dogs.

Quick fix: A hot bath and put your feet up on the edge of the tub.
Your kickers are jam-packed with nerve endings that connect to your entire body, so soaking them sends a soothing sensation to your whole system. Plus, elevating them takes the pressure off, which sends a signal to your brain that it's time to relax. Add some bubbles to make it really special!

Secret Signs That Show People You Rock

Everything from the coffee you drink to how tidy your desk is tells a story about you. Use these clever tricks to make sure it's the story you want people to hear.

Recent research suggests it takes precisely a tenth of a second for someone to make a judgement about you — rightly or wrongly — and it's often more to do with what you don't say than what you do. Just by looking at your apartment decor, the pen you use in a meeting, the food you order for lunch or your favourite tipple, people make assumptions about your personality. The good news is, knowing how and when people are going to gather these unspoken clues about you can give you the upper hand when it comes to making a positive, lasting impression in a host of crunch life situations. Use this cheat sheet to ensure your habits and mannerisms are showing you in the best possible light.

You Want to Impress The Hot Hipster At Starbucks

Do. Order an espresso with a splash of milk. This is slightly cool, but with a degree of integrity. You'll look more decisively cool, rather than someone who simply follows the flock.

Don’t. Pick the newest, trendiest coffee on the menu that you can barely pronounce just to show off. This will just look too try-hard, and like you've simply jumped on the latest bandwagon.

You Want to Score Brownie Points With Your New Boss

Do. Show you’ve got a healthy work/life balance. A literal way to do this is to keep one photograph of your friends on one side of your desk and a picture of you and your team on another.

Don’t. Over-accessories with pink fluffy pens and a diamante mouse. If you are battling the glass ceiling and want to be taken seriously, then a Barbie pen is not the best thing.

You Want to Wow Important Business Clients

Do. Break out the posh biscuits. When biscuits come out in meetings, people immediately make an assessment of your company. Forget the plain ones and offer them the extra spesh foil- wrapped chocolate ones instead - they'll feel they are being treated with respect.

Don’t. Pimp your font. It doesn't matter how bored you are of Times New Roman, draft a client proposal in anything else and you risk coming off as flashy, egocentric and lacking in integrity.

You Want to Bewitch Your Boyfriend's Parents When They Visit

Do. Ditch the scented candles and stock up on seasonal fresh flowers. Gets the coffee or bread maker going in the kitchen to waft homely aromas throughout your pad, and hide any OTT party pies.

Don’t. Forget to do a bathroom sweep. The bathroom cabinet is where old-fashioned in-laws will see what kind of person you really are. Hide suspect creams, your pill, and anything else vaguely incriminating.

You Want to Connect With Your Smart-Guy Office Crush At Lunch

Do. Order organic where possible. These Old shows you've got moral values and that you care about something other than yourself. But keep it simple: try a lime-cooked tuna with an organic salad.

Don’t. Go over the top and quiz the waiter about the origin of everything on the menu. Eating with a conscience is cool, but not if you start lecturing everyone around you. This will make you seem egocentric and will make everyone else at the table feel bad.

You Want to Leave Your Hot Date Drooling Over Dinner

Do. Get stuck into your food. There is something about what you eat and the way you eat that will register with your date. Subliminally, men like to be with someone who can devour a plate of food, as it implies you're equally as passionate physically.

Don’t. Overdo it. Let him know you're enjoying your food, but stop short of making moaning noises and dangling the asparagus seductively in the air. It's a date, not a Girls Gone Wild audition.

You Want to Shine Like A Star On Your Birthday

Do. Host your own party. Pour drinks, mingle and introduce people to each other, says Judi. Then be prepared to share the spotlight by letting your nearest and dearest toast you with speeches.

Don’t. Be a princess. The worst thing you can do is not open your presents in front of your guests. Ibis spreads the message that your friends are just underlings who have brought presents to your altar, and signals you are a brat.

You Want to Blend In With The Cool Crowd At Post-Work Drinks

Do. Order bubbly. This is a sharing drink and it's fun, fizzy and shows you're up for a good time. And by skipping the French stuff and ordering Italian, you'll score extra cool points. It's a little bit special, but not too expensive.

Don’t. Push yourself into the group by being too dominant and ordering a round of pricey cocktails, If people feel they are being pushed, they back off. If they feel they picked you as a friend, rather than the other way around, they'll feel more comfortable.
